Establishing a relationship with a dentist for your child within 6 months of the first tooth eruption, or by his/her first birthday is an important step to ensure a lifetime of healthy smiles. Additionally, children often have different needs than adults, making it important to find a dentist who understands children.
Proper growth and development is an important aspect of total body health. If a child loses a baby tooth early through decay or injury, other teeth could shift and cause crowding or filling of the vacant space. This can prevent permanent teeth from growing properly or cause problems with chewing and speaking.
To prevent this, space maintainers are placed to hold the spot left by the missing tooth. This could be a band or temporary crown attached to one of the adjacent teeth. Later, as the permanent tooth grows into the spot, the space maintainer is removed.

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Parker since childhood, he merged his private practice with Higgins Family Dental and I couldn’t be happier. Some familiar faces came along with Dr Parker and the new faces have been warm, inviting and professional. The clinic is clean, bright with all the modern equipment one would expect. I highly recommend Huggins Family Dental!!
I have been going to LPD since I was a small child. My entire family goes there, and so do the friends I have recommended. I have no intention of going anywhere else.
I have been with Higgins Family Dental for about 15 years. I love having my teeth cleaned by Gracie...the best hygienist ever! I have been treated by Dr. Goldblatt exclusively up until he retired last year. I was reluctant to try the "new" dentists, but I finally did and I was so impressed! Dr Korolyov was friendly and knowledgeable. When I told him about the embarrassment I felt because of the appearance of the crown on my front tooth, he reassured me that the appearance could be improved with recent advances in dental technology. His office was very helpful in explaining my insurance coverage before the treatment and worked with me to arrange a payment plan. After my appointment, I decided to bring my 3 children (ages 5, 7, 10) to Dr Korolyov. They had previously been to pediatric dentists only, and I was nervous that they would freak out at their visit. I was shocked at how well they did. The staff was friendly and prepared with coloring books in the waiting room and even had "prizes" for the kids after their exam. I am so happy I stuck with Higgins Dental. Such a great team... a great mix of familiar and new!
